Remembrance Day

Hello everyone! Today I’m going to be write about Remembrance day. I am writing this blog post on Remembrance day too. It’s celebrated on the 11th minute of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

Remembrance day is a day where we take a moment to acknowledge and honour the sacrifice that all the Canadian soldiers and veterans have given to protect our country. In honour of them we wear poppies on our shirts.

There is also a special type of poppy to honour indigenous soldiers. Fun fact they were actually quite a few indigenous soldiers who fought in the World war. Most of them were elite snipers. They became elite snipers because they were used to having patience and a lot of other values gained from living out in the wild and all those were necessary to become snipers.

And there is actually another thing about Remembrance day. There is a Canadian veteran who has an airport named after his name: Billy Bishop.

Another thing about Remembrance day is that when the soldiers died, they would play a song known as the Last Post. They would also play this song to signal that the activities were ending in the camps.

Another thing about Remembrance day is that the corpses of all of the dead soldiers were carried along the highway 401 to be buried and that eventually became known as the Highway of Heroes. And a song originated from this and it’s called The Highway of Heroes.

I hope you take a moment of silence sometime today to remember the sacrifice given by our soldiers.

I’ll see you next time, bye!
