Science club

Hello everyone! Today, I’m going to talk about the science fair team at school. This Monday, I had the opportunity to participate in the science fair team, which is a club that takes part in science fairs. To kick things off, we started making motors using batteries, tape, jumbo paper clips, copper wire, sandpaper, a little bit of Play-Doh, and a magnet. While our motor wasn’t very powerful and might not work well with a smaller magnet, it functions with a larger one. It’s a miniature model, so it still works!

We received all the materials and watched a short video explaining how everything works, focusing on electromagnetism. During the session, it was really fun! They also had these little element quizzes where they would write an element on the board, and we had to identify it.

Regarding our motor, the way it spins relies on how well we construct it. Every little detail seems to affect how well your motor works, and We’re essentially converting electricity into motion with this electromagnetic motor. The way it works is by electrifying the copper coil in the middle of the battery, with a current flowing through the paper clips from the battery. Then, underneath the coil, we have a neodymium magnet, which is the most powerful magnet in the world. Due to its newly acquired electric charge, the coil will start to turn due to the magnetic field of the neodymium affecting it.

In conclusion, it was a great start for us. We learned about an important scientific principle and had fun while doing it.

Anyway, bye everyone and see you later!
