I want to share my experience from today’s Harvard leadership course. It’s been quite an insightful day so far. Upon arriving, we kicked off with some icebreakers to acquaint ourselves. Following a brief introduction, we dove into the day’s topic: communication.

Initially, we covered the basics of speech delivery, exploring ethos, logos, and pathos, along with the significance of emphasis, pitch, vocabulary, pacing, gestures, and body language. Afterward, we enjoyed a lunch break.

During the speech exercises, we engaged in a game where we spoke for 30 seconds on a given topic without using filler words—an interesting challenge! Later, we analyzed a speech by Steve Jobs, assessing its strengths and areas for improvement such as reducing repetitive gestures and maintaining eye contact.

Post-lunch, we delved into rhetoric, examining various rhetorical devices and analyzing speeches for their persuasive elements—ethos, logos, and pathos. We then formed teams for a weeklong project, developing startup ideas to pitch to potential investors—a stimulating endeavor indeed!

Overall, it’s been a rewarding day filled with practical learning and engaging activities. I highly recommend this course for anyone looking to enhance their leadership skills in a dynamic and effective manner. Anyway, bye everyone and see you later!
