FlyBoy:The conflicts and characters

Eric Walters’s FlyBoy is an adventure packed novel full of conflict.FlyBoy shows many different types of conflict and different characters. This novel has 3 main different main types of conflict, such as Human v.s human, Human v.s Self, and Human v.s society. The main character of FlyBoy is Robbie/David McWilliams.A secondary character is Chip, Robbie/David best friend.FlyBoy certainly has an amazing variety of conflict and characters.

The different types of conflict in FlyBoy are Human v.s Human, Human v.s Self, and Human v.s society. An example of Human v.s Human is when Robbie/David is fighting the drunken soldiers at night,on page 125-126.That’s Human v.s Human because the soldiers and Robbie/David are on the allies side,so it’s not Human v.s society.Another example of Human v.s Human is when the flyboys are fighting the farmers on page 52,and that’s Human v.s Human because they are not really fighting for a side, they are fighting because they feel threatened.A example of Human v.s Self is when Robbie/David is worrying that he’s not good enough for the air force on page 117-120.This is Human v.s Self because he’s fighting himself mentally.Another one is when Robbie/David is thinking about if he should write a confession letter to his mother in case he died on page 145-161.This is Human v.s self because he is also fighting himself mentally. An example of Human v.s society is on page 108, where the canadians are fighting the germans in the Avro Lancaster. This is Human v.s society because they are fighting german pilots to defeat germany. These examples show that FlyBoy has a great deal of conflict.

As Robbie/David is the main character in FlyBoy, a great deal of things happened around him. A main event that happened with Robbie/David was when he was in the Manning Depot training to become a pilot. This demonstrated he was a neutral.Another main event that happened with Robbie/David was when he was piloting the broken Avro Lancaster to England under attack, and that showed he was a hero.

Chip was a secondary character in FlyBoy, and an ally to Robbie/David. An example of this was when he was sending the letters to his mother and was keeping the impression that he was not in the royal canadian air force.Another example of him being an ally is when he is keeping in touch with Robbie/David,and was comforting him at the train stations.Chip is certainly an ally to Robbie/David McWilliams.

There are many different types of conflict in the novel FlyBoy as well as different characters. The types of conflict in FlyBoy are Human v.s Society, Human v.s Self, and Human v.s Human.Robbie/David was clearly a main character in the novel. A second important character is Chip, his best friend.FlyBoy has a diverse collection of different types of conflict and different characters.

Robbie/David is the main character. He’s a 17 year old canadian and snuck into the Royal Canadian Air Force using his deceased brother, David’s id. In the beginning, when he’s an acey deucey,he is a neutral because he isn’t really fighting anyone. Then, when he becomes a navigator, on one of his trips, the pilot, Jed is almost killed so he piloted the plane all the way to England and saved the lives of the crew and became a hero.(sadly, a member of the crew got half his head blown off and died instantly.

Chip is Robbie/David’s best friend. They used to go to the same boarding school, and they became friends there.Chip is also 17, and is going to enlist in the air force once he’s 18.Chip is an ally because he’s the one giving everyone at home the impression that he’s not in the air force using the letters Robbie/David gave him and a bunch of excuses.

I most certainly recommend reading Flyboy, and attempting to find more examples of conflict on your own.

Anyway, bye everyone and see you later!
