Hello, everyone! Today, I want to share my experience from a trip to Mount St. Louis Moonstone ski park. Although not exactly a resort, it was a pretty nice ski park. I joined some classmates on this adventure as our school organized the entire outing. We had the option to choose between skis and snowboards to rent out and use. However, if you didn’t know how to ski or snowboard, then the instructors will teach you the basics and send you on your way, down the greens.

Situated near Barrie up north, the park boasts beautiful hills, including challenging black diamonds. While lacking triple diamond slopes, it does feature doubles. As it was my first time, skiing, I stuck to the beginner hills, known as Bunny Hill. However, I quickly outgrew it and went onto the greens.

With my dad, who was also a first-time skier, we managed to get on the green slopes and down them, without any falls until the very end. A snowboarder accidentally ran over my skis, causing a tumble. Thankfully, the snow cushioned the fall, minimizing any discomfort.
Getting up proved to be the real challenge due to my lack of upper and lower body strength. I needed assistance from someone with decent size and strength pulling me up from the opposite side. Once back on my feet, I continued down the slopes without further issues.

Navigating through the ski school with my friend Jayden, we reached the top of Gentle Ben, taking the Sundance quad lift, which provided a high vantage point. From there, we skied down to the bottom of Gentle Ben and used the Gentle Ben Triple Lift to reach the middle section.
The ski school included miniature magic carpet and kinder carpet areas. We learned the pizza stop on the first and improved pizza stop on the second by learning how to turn. After graduation, we ventured to the top of Gentle, where I surprisingly managed a full parallel descent, a remarkable feat for a beginner.
However, maintaining full parallel on the steeper middle section proved challenging. I learned to control my speed and make turns on the greens, anticipating slight bumps and cracks that could be intimidating at higher speeds.
After a break for lunch, I teamed up with Zain and Aiden, while Jayden joined Justin. Zane opted for snowboarding, finding it more enjoyable, though challenging. Aiden, on skis without poles, moved at a slower pace. Together, we tackled the scariest run yet from the top.

For beginners, it’s crucial to practice extensively on the bunny hill before attempting more challenging slopes. Mastering the pizza stop and smooth turns is essential to avoid transitioning to full parallel prematurely. With practice, skiing becomes an exhilarating and enjoyable experience.

Anyway, bye everyone and see you later!
