Minrs

MINRS is a novel that clearly shows the elements of science fiction literature. It includes many “what if ” questions, like many other science fiction novels and movies. This is the speculation aspect of Science fiction, that commonly involves “what if” questions as a means to make the plot more interesting and having people wonder what would happen if for example, Perses hits Earth? In MINRS, many “what if” questions present themselves, such as what if Earth runs out of natural resources. Another “what if” question is what if we mine on Perses, or what if Perses has natural resources. As all these questions have appeared early into the book, we can assume that many more are to come. However, speculation is not the only aspect of science fiction.

A different aspect of science fiction is the setting of the story. The setting of the story determines what kind of story it is, and what is possible in the story. In MINRS, the setting of the book is in space. More specifically, the setting is in the habitable zone of the solar system, on a fictional planetoid named Perses, that nearly struck Earth, until it was deflected by Hans Melming using missiles, and flew into orbit around the sun in the habitable zone of the Solar System. As many pieces of science fiction media have fictional planets and planetoids in them, and in MINRS,  Perses is one such planetoid, which is also the setting of the book, which gives another reason why MINRS is a science fiction novel.

The third aspect of science fiction is science impacts. Science impacts are essentially the impact of brand new technology in the fictional world of the novel/film. For example, an example would be the spaceships in Star Wars that let planets come together and form factions, or wage war on other planets. In MINRS, they have shuttles between Earth and Perses, which opened up the opportunity of colonizing Perses, and mining on it. Another example is the terraforming technology that they use on Perses, which has made farming on Perses possible, and made surviving there for long periods possible.

In conclusion, MINRS is a science fiction novel and all of my explanations certainly show that.
