Hello everyone! Today, I’m thrilled to share my unforgettable experience at the DDA La Fest, the annual celebration recital hosted by the Delicious Dance Academy. This exciting event held at Niagara Falls, Ontario was filled with mesmerizing dance performances, glittering costumes, and a lot of fun.
DDA is run by two identical twins, Linto and Lijo, who hail from Kerala, India. Linjo brothers started their journey in the world of dance at a young age and have expanded their organization from local to international levels. Five years ago, they established the Canadian branch of DDA, and since then, they’ve trained numerous students.
The day of the recital started with a bit of a hiccup for us. We were supposed to arrive by 9 o’clock for the start of the recital, but due to some navigational challenges and leaving home later than planned, we ended up being about an hour and 20 minutes late. However, the excitement persisted.
Once we arrived, we had to wait an additional 20 minutes for our turn to practice on stage. During this time, we met other performers and their families and enjoyed some bonding moments. Lunchtime was equally enjoyable as we played games and, for the first time, I got to use my Nintendo Switch.

My dance group, the “Little Stars,” consisted of five members, including myself: Farhan, Mika, Tina, Jude, and Johan. Each of us had custom costumes specially designed for this event. We performed two songs, and our team’s dance lasted a total of four minutes. Alongside the Little Stars, there were other groups with cool names like Dancing Divas and Nakshatra. The event also featured a vibrant array of colorful costumes that seemed to radiate glitter in every direction.

A famous Indian actress Ms. Priyamani did the official launch of the event virtually from India. She was supposed to attend in-person but could not make it due to delay in processing of her visa to visit Canada. The recital featured an MC who guided us through the inauguration ceremony, and we were thrilled to be part of this exciting event. Afterward, we returned to the lunchroom to wait out our turn.

The event was generously sponsored, by one of the most prevalent sponsors being Manoj Karatha and Canadian Home, known for supporting various Indian events in Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga, and the surrounding areas. Behind each dancer, there was a screen displaying captivating videos that changed based on the music, adding an extra layer of visual excitement to our performances. When it was time for the final round, we changed into our dance academy T-shirts and black pants and returned our costumes to the DDA team.

Towards the end of the event, awards and medals were handed out. Everyone received medals and certificates, and awards were given for categories such as “Most Improved” and “Best Star Effort.” The event also took a moment to appreciate parents for their support in caring for their kids. It was heartwarming to see my parents among the honoured.

Our friend Robinson was there, capturing professional photographs and videography, ensuring that we could cherish these memories forever.

In conclusion, my experience at DDAL La Fest was nothing short of amazing. Dancing on stage in front of a large, appreciative audience was a dream come true.

I’m looking forward to many more opportunities like this in the future.
