Hello, everyone! Today, I’ll be sharing our exciting journey along Crabtree Trail in Raleigh. We did a captivating adventure from one end of the trail to the other before making our way back to the starting point. Our visit to Raleigh was all about quality time with our cousin, who resides there. Together with my mom, aunt, and cousin, we decided to explore the nearby trail. It was indeed a a good experience! My aunt, familiar with the area, suggested the Crabtree Trail for our fitness walk. Since I didn’t have my bike with me, my aunt kindly offered that we could walk instead. While my cousin seemed more interested in chatting and playing in the hallway initially, our walk soon began in earnest.

Approximately 4.8 kilometers long, the Crabtree Trail is located alongside the beautiful Crabtree Creek, offering picturesque views along the way. We were cautioned by many not to stray off the path due to the presence of snakes. We actually encountered two snakes, which my aunt identified as copperheads—venomous creatures that we wisely kept our distance from, as their bites can lead to severe tissue damage and necrosis of the skin.
As we trekked along the trail, I couldn’t help but notice the abundance of oak and pine trees. I thought I glimpsed a chestnut tree or two. The trees were only just beginning to exhibit the first hints of fall colors, and the atmosphere was refreshingly cool.
The trail featured a series of twists and turns, uphill and downhill stretches, keeping us on our toes. We managed to get approximately 5000 steps, roughly equivalent to one step every 100 meters, although the math didn’t quite add up for me.

For those contemplating a visit, here are some tips based on our experience: stick to the trail, carry plenty of water, wear comfortable running shoes, and consider bringing a GPS just in case you wander off the beaten path. If you plan to go biking, don’t forget the bug spray, as the trail is home to a variety of insects. There are both roadside and parking lot entrances for those who prefer to drive to the trail.

During our hike, we stumbled upon a curious walnut, and we couldn’t resist trying to crack it open. After some unsuccessful attempts, we accidentally dropped it into rainwater, leaving it to its fate.
The trail was popular with several fellow adventurers, some of them on bicycles. It’s worth noting that there’s a maximum speed limit of 10 mph on the trail for safety reasons. The atmosphere was friendly, and while most groups consisted of two or three cyclists, we were the unique pair of walkers. Raleigh’s mild climate made it an ideal location for outdoor activities.
As we continued our journey, we met friendly individuals who warned us about staying clear of snakes and even offered to bring their dogs to help.
Whether you’re a hiker or a cyclist, this trail has something to offer everyone. Just remember to stay safe, enjoy the scenery, and enjoy the experience.
