Hello, everyone! Today, I’m going to talk about “Elemental,” a movie that’s being hailed as a masterpiece and is apparently Disney’s greatest film. I’ve watched it, and let me tell you, it’s a really fantastic movie. While I’m not entirely sure I caught all the hidden meanings in the story, one thing that stood out to me was how it portrayed the struggles of immigrants in Canada, and this theme applies not just to Canada but everywhere.

The movie illustrates the challenges immigrants face when they come to a new place. They might be treated differently, their names could get mixed up due to communication errors, and they may not know anyone, making it hard for them to settle in. Eventually, though, they start building a community, but that takes time, and they often tend to stick with their own groups. It also sheds light on how people can be very discriminatory and rude, driven by prejudices without much thought.
I first heard about this movie on the radio, where they were calling it a modern-day Romeo and Juliet. At the beginning, I didn’t know much about it, except that it was supposed to be really good. So, I patiently waited for it to be released. During that time, I stumbled upon one of its songs on YouTube, “Steal the Show.” This song showcases Amber, also known as the fire girl, who stands out in a community outside of Firetown. She’s very different from Wade, the water boy, who seems more ordinary compared to her uniqueness.
The emotions run high in this movie, especially anger, which is represented by the fire people turning purple when they’re really mad. And I mean, really mad! Another emotion is heat, mainly shown by the residents of Firetown against the water people and others who won’t allow them into certain places, like the folks at the old museum who wouldn’t let them see the plants, even though these plants can thrive in any environment, including fire.
Finding a home was a real challenge for them too because no one wanted to rent to them initially. Eventually, they stumbled upon an old, run-down place, fixed it up, and turned it into a shop and a house. As time passed, the Fire community kept growing, and there’s even a whole Firetown section in Element City.
The elements arrived in waves to Element City, starting with water, then earth, followed by air, and finally fire. Fire faced the most prejudice because none of the other elements are openly hostile towards each other. However, there are natural conflicts, like water evaporating near fire and fire melting when splashed by water. Fire can also burn earth and break apart air.
Now, what’s the message of the movie? It’s about accepting everyone and helping newcomers integrate into our communities. We should support them as much as we can because it’s incredibly challenging otherwise. They can also give back to the community by offering various services, just like Amber does by sealing off broken canals with tempered glass, something she excels at. This is an example of newcomers contributing their unique skills, and each of them has something special to offer. When newcomers thrive, it benefits the entire country. So, let’s extend a helping hand and bring them out in the open, because their talents can be beneficial for everyone.
I believe that’s the real message in “Elemental.” Anyway, everyone, see you later!
