Hi everyone! Today, I want to share my experience watching Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with my did (sister) yesterday. We had the opportunity to watch the play at the Mirvish Theatre, and the production team did an amazing job of bringing the world of Harry Potter to life. Even the merchandise was just like what we read in the books! The chocolate frogs came with famous wizard cards, the Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans had many flavors, and they even had butterbeer! (If you haven’t read Harry Potter yet, I highly recommend it.) The wizard card I got was of Helga Hufflepuff, and it was really cool because the card was a 3D card that made the characters move when you tilted it.

That is a fantastic reference to both the movies and books, which really showcases the amount of effort put into this show. I’m very pleased with my card, and my didi got Merlin, which is also really cool. The cards even have descriptions on the back. In addition to the cards, they have a wide range of merchandise such as wands, photo opportunities, scarves, hats, and more. During the show, we were even given a cute stuffed owl with our food, which we named Sir Who Hooter after adding the “Sir Who” today.
Overall, it was definitely worth attending the play, as the script alone doesn’t do it justice. The show’s production team uses lights, cables, special effects, and great acting to bring the play to life. They also include transition scenes between the longer ones, which are seamlessly executed by the cast while the stage is set for the next scene. They even managed to make the spells look real! They used PolyJuice potion that worked, transformed people into other characters live on stage, and it all looked completely natural. We were even treated to dementors that flew into the crowd!

The entire experience was great. However, the actual play was very different from the script that I read when I was eight. You see, The Cursed Child is what happened to the characters after the main series. It’s not part of the main story, but rather an add-on created by J.K. Rowling. By editing the play, they made it a lot better than the original script, which, in my opinion, was lackluster. They removed some parts, changed lines, added characters, and more. But most importantly, they made it really good with special effects and the power of editing! I won’t explain the whole plot to you, but it has a great plot twist, good characters, an amazing story, a great cast, and much more. Anyway, goodbye everyone, and see you later!
