Hello everyone! Today, I’m going to be talking about a tournament that I went to yesterday. It was a very interesting tournament because I actually got third place. There was six rounds in total, because it was a Swiss tournament. Each round, you would play someone and once your game is done you’d tell the person who ran the event who won.

I won the first the two games, then I lost on the third one, and I won the next two, then finally, I lost on the last one. It’s my first time ever going to a big tournament, that’s in IRL. I’m actually surprised I did as well as I did. If you’ve ever been to a chess tournament, you probably know that there’s going to be breaks in between the rounds.

There were a few breaks in between the rounds, but the biggest one was the lunch break. It was an hour long break. Since it was an hour long, me and my mom just went rushed to some store , got something and eat it on the way back there. So we went to this place about 15 minutes from the tournament, and we place our order, but it took about 15 minutes to get it ready. Then since we had actually left after 15 minutes of the break, we thought we were going to be late coming back. So we went back to the tournament in the car, and when we got there, we were in for a surprise. Because, we thought we were late.

Turns out, they had actually extended the lunch break to an hour and 15 minutes. It was a huge relief that we weren’t late, but there was another issue when we came there. I had thought that I was only going to do four rounds, because two of the rounds were overlapping with one of my other classes. However, my dad called last minute and said that I could stay for the next two rounds. I won one of the rounds, but then I played off against the first place person, and I lost. I probably could’ve won that if I just thought more about my moves and his moves. I lost the other time, to the second-place player. He was really good, and I actually thought he was going to win the tournament. But he messed up on the game with the first place person, so he lost on that one. I actually invented a new kind of move that I could use in future tournaments while I was there. I’m not gonna say what it is, but it’s kind of smart. You guys might have your own signature moves, but this one is mine. Anyway, bye everyone see you later!
