Hello everyone! Today, I’m going to be telling you all about the trip back from India! Instead of having to take one flight we ended up taking four and covered five airports between these flights. And that too in 48 hours. Our first airport was Trivandrum international airport in Kerala. This is where we took our first flight flight through the airline Vistara. They offer full meals and good in-flight entertainment in international and domestic flights. You’re probably thinking “why wouldn’t we just take a flight directly to back to Toronto?” Apparently taking a bunch of flights to get there is cheaper. Anyway, once we arrived in Delhi, me and my mom were a bit hungry. So we went to grab a bite to eat. We found a nice little shop called Chaayos at the Delhi airport. We ordered loaded parathas to eat. We had no idea what these were, so we thought we just try them out. When we got them, they looked like pizza with cheese and meat sauce. I gave them the nickname Indian pizza. Indian pizza is literally a paratha covered with a bit of cheese and roasted meat. The people at the restaurant even cut the pizzas up into pieces. At the airport there was also a nice display wall of art made with discarded electronic stuff. Interesting. Somebody had also put a random Lego piece on top of one of the things. There was stuff like circuit boards that made up the whole thing. We got out of the airport and took a taxi to the Leela Palace hotel as our next flight wasn’t till next evening at 11 p.m.The hotel also had a nice art collection displayed at various spots. Most notably, there was a big Buddha statue in the garden. The reason why this hotel is called Leela Palace is because the decor is meant to look like a palace. There is also a rooftop pool where we saw a lot of pigeons walking on the water. You have to check out another blog post for more about the pigeons however.
The view was incredible. You could see most of Delhi. After that we checked out at around 3 o’clock and then went to the Khan market. Again you’ll have to check out another blog for more details about that but we went there and got a few gifts for some people and we left around seven. https://farhanharoon.com/2022/08/31/khan-market-new-delhi/

Then we called an Uber, and it went to my moms friends house. There was 2 boys there and we actually pretty similar tastes in books. We left it there around nine thirty, then we had to check in and go to security. Then we got on the flight. It left at 11:30, to New York. It was a nonstop flight and 16 hours long. It was on United Airlines, and I actually got a nice little kids book with some games.I also got a nice little puzzle we also got Indian meals for dinner and breakfast. By the time we got to New York, it was 6 AM there because of the time zone differences.

Anyway we had to go through customs and went to the check-in counter to recheck our baggage, where we were greeted by a surprise. The nonstop flight to Toronto was canceled. To compensate for this, we got two tickets to Washington Dallas, where we would have to board another flight to Toronto. After we boarded the flight to Washington DC, which was also on United Airlines, I decided to sleep on the plane because there was nothing else to do. We thought we could see the Statue of Liberty in New York, but we never got to since we were on the wrong side of the plane. Anyway, once we got to Washington Dallas, we got off and ended up spending around 30 minutes trying to find the gate. Our baggage was checked till Toronto from Newark, so we didn’t have to pick it up. We still needed the lounge directions and when we went at the gate they told us where the lounge was but it was super far away, so we thought we’d just get a bite to eat from subway. We got a foot-long tuna sandwich, and split it in half. Then we got a drink of water, and we went to the gate for boarding. Also for some reason the name of the airport is Washington Dulles. Not Dallas, Texas, I still don’t understand that. we boarded the flight, and I saw something a bit weird. You see on the United flight going to Washington, there wasn’t a screen even though it had the same flight time as the flight to Toronto, which had screens and I was like wait what that makes no sense. Anyway, nothing bad really happened at the Toronto airport so we got out. And that’s where our problems begin. This time, when we ordered an Uber it took him around 30 minutes to get to us because the app was going wonky. But before that, we had a small problem. You see, on the flight to Toronto, the people at the gate said we couldn’t bring our three checked suitcases because there was no space on the plane. They told us to go to baggage services at the Pearson airport. Once we got to the Pearson airport we went to Air Canada baggage services, and it took us around an hour and a half to sort it all out. It was all exhausting so the moment when we got back home I took a bath and then slept for like 12 hours. And I woke up at like 3 AM because I was jetlagged, and I couldn’t sleep again. After waiting for an hour my mom woke up too then she slept for another hour when we finally got out of bed it was 5 in the morning. I’ve learned a lesson from this trip. Always bring gum when your ears pop. Another lesson I’ve learned from the trip, is that you don’t wanna put the address of the airport and actually put the airport itself on the Uber app. The total number of Airports we visited was five on the return trip, and when I was coming to India we visited three and took two fights. And when we came back what do we get? A late Uber, two times zones, three missing suitcases, four flights, and five airports. If we had another 7 things that happened would it be like the 12 nights of Christmas! Bye everyone see you later!
