Villain Contest

Hello everyone!

Today, I’m going to be talking about a contest that I entered at school. As it was Halloween on Monday, the librarian decided to host a contest .

She printed out a bunch of pictures of villains from popular books, and then put them all up on the wall with numbers on each one. She then printed out a bunch of sheets of paper with those numbers in 2 lists. On one side, the contestants were supposed to put the name of the villain, and on the other side they would have to put the book that the villain came from. Me and my friend decided to do it together. The contest was open for five days, so in that time we were able to do quite a bit of work. In the beginning we were able to get the easier ones like Lord Voldemort, but at the end we had to really work hard and did things like searching in the library for the books that the villains came from. It was easy to guess a lot of the villains because me and my partner have read lots and lots of books, and seen a pretty good amount of movies. Since the images are most of the time from the movies and rarely from the books, if you watch a good amount of movies and read books that inspired them then the contest should be easy. However, there is one that a lot of people couldn’t guess. The ninth image was one of a spider with a top hat. We had never seen that before, so we spent most of the contest simply trying to guess what that was. In the end, we searched the entire library but to no avail. Then we decided to check the catalog on the computer. We searched up spider books and we found the spider and the fly, a poem. We thought it didn’t really count as a book, but we decide to try it and we got the right one. The spider and the fly is the book that the character was from, and the name of the character was (very originally) the spider. In the end, we submitted our answer sheet and we waited. However there was some confusion with our sheet and it took two days just to sort the whole thing out but once we cleared that up after lunch on Wednesday, they finally announced it. In second place was a team from grade 4 and theirs had some errors. In first place was me and my friend with absolutely no errors! We had a perfect sheet! My friend wasn’t there that day, so he doesn’t know yet, but when he comes back I’m going to tell him. Contests like these are really fun, and if you’re a class president or something you should try and make some for your class. I don’t know how many teams there was, but the entire school was given the chance to participate. There wasn’t really a name for the contest, so I’m just gonna make one up: Welcome to Guess That Villain! All right Mr. Haroon you’re up. Who’s that villain? Mr. Haroon: It’s it’s it’s it’s uh Miss Trunchbull from Matilda by Roald Dahl! Host:Great job. Mr Haroon!

To end this blog, I’d like to give a description of one of the villains. Lord Voldemort, is a man with white skin that’s pale, instead of a nose, he just has two little slits and he is a wizard, who wears a black robe all the time and has a wand. And now the blog is done so see you all another time bye!
