Hello everyone! Today, I’m going to be talking about the industrial revolution. The industrial revolution is the beginning of the technological advances that would push our progress as a species forward by a lot. See, before the industrial revolution, people would make their own food, clothes, and homes. There were no stores, no games, no wars(well, some), just people working to survive. Then it all really started when Eli Whitney made the cotton gin. The cotton gin was an invention which clean cotton out of it’s seeds, and before people would do that manually, but a cotton gin could make the same amount as you would get for doing it manually for a few months in a day. Then it really kicked up. Inventions were being made by people across the land more and more. Like the steam engine, which burns fuel to heat water to make steam to build pressure to push pistons. They were mostly used in trains. You could also make boats with them too. Then factories based around the steam engine were built so that they could increase production of goods. All of the machines in the factories needed coal to work so they were built near coal mines. Another thing they needed was metal, so they had people work in places where they would forge the metal they got from the mines into thing like machines. The downside was that you could die while working there. All this industrialization in the cities made people want to go there because they thought it would be easier, and it was until too many people came and they started to struggle to keep their speed of production and the speed at which the people were coming in a balance and soon everything started to deteriorate. That’s where my knowledge of the industrial revolution ends, so see you later alligator. ( A voice suddenly says: in a while, you’ll be in my stomach crocodile:I proceed to run as fast as I can away from there).
