Terry fox run

Hello everyone!

Today,I’m going to talk about the Terry Fox run.At my school, when the Day of the Terry Fox run comes, all the classes are willing to do the run in one period or part of one. Our goal was to get to 400 km every year and we’ve done that so far and this year we actually got to 500 km. As you probably know the goal of the Terry Fox run is to raise money for cancer research. Cancer happens when one one of your cells becomes a cancer cell. Most of these are killed by your immune system, but if one goes by undetected it will start multiplying and multiplying and multiplying until it forms a tumor. Then it will trick blood vessels into building themselves into it and basically they feed the thing that’s killing the body. It consumes nutrients at an alarming rate and your body won’t have enough to pass around and then and eventually all the cells will die and that’s how cancer kills I’m pretty sure. Terry fox had cancer in his leg and they had to replace it with a robot leg but the cancer spread through him so Terry decided to run in a marathon across Canada from the from the most eastern point of Canada to the most western point but sadly his cancer caught up with him finally in Thunder bay and he was carried to the hospital and died. But he raised a gigantic amount of money for cancer research. So every year each school makes kids and staff run around the school property and everybody can donate money to help fund cancer research. That’s all the Terry Fox run really is. And I’m pretty sure you already knew all this because they usually show this in the video campaigns each year!

So next time you have to run at least a few kilometres for the run be grateful because your running is helping to cure cancer (if you get cancer later and don’t get cured I don’t have really much to say about that).
