Last Monday, three of my cousins and their parents came over to visit for dinner. So we all got into two different cars to go somewhere.
In the car I was in, my mom announced that we were going to Paramount Fine Foods, a Lebanese restaurant near our house. But along the way one of my cousins asked my another cousin whom he had not seen before about where he was from. These seven year olds then started a huge debate about slavery as one of them was from America. Then I yelled them from the back row of the car “can you guys quiet down, please, me and R are talking about Vincent Van Gogh and Marie Curie “. Eventually we got there and R told me that all restaurants like these serve only soggy and wet fries. We had a bet for five dollars about this.
We got seated inside the tented patio and somebody gave us the menus. However we were all hungry in between because of all the aromas coming from the kitchen. So they brought some pita bites and fries with ketchup. But at that point R was just sulking. I don’t know why though. Once they gave us the starters, we all gave them our orders. I wanted a chicken shawarma Saj wrap. Some people wanted kebabs, others ordered spicy potatoes, falafel, shish tawouk, mashrooha, and arnabeet which essentially is cauliflower tossed in tahini and garlic sauce. It took a while for the food to arrive though. So in that time, I played with the seven year olds and a bit later we got our plates and cutlery.
At that point we got into an argument over one of the seven year old’s, Z, complaining that I punched him on the face but I had only PRETENDED to punch him. He could swear he felt it but I know he didn’t feel it. Then the food arrived and R finally stopped sulking. I wonder if he had fallen asleep before.
When I showed him the fries, he was like “I don’t remember making that bet”. I was like “Really Dude?, Fine:)”. So now I’m wishing that I got that bet on camera so he couldn’t deny that he had made the bet.
And at the end we had a surprise: slices of a cheese cake with candles were brought out and we all started singing ” Happy birthday to R2″. Good thing it didn’t turn out like N’s bday party. He got bit by a dog, lost his favourite flag, and part of the match that lit the candles fell on his foot. Talk about unlucky, I wonder what he wished for. Hopefully he wished I got the bet on camera.
I enjoyed the evening because I love Paramount Shawarma and their fries. I was also really happy to have a big outing with family to a restaurant. The exciting part is that there is always a lot of fun and drama during family dinners. And the ride with all the family in the car can be annoying with all the noise, or it can be funny with the arguments and the conversations.
