Myth of the Mason

Hello everyone! As you probably know, I usually do Greek mythology for myth posts, but this time it’s Norse mythology! Norse mythology means like Viking mythology. Anyway our story starts in the realm of Asgard, one of the nine realms in the world tree. It happened to that Thor the God of the lightning and thunder was off of killing Giants and other creatures with his hammer. Just after he left however, a mason approached the gods and told them that he could build a wall so strong that I know giant could break it at and that nothing could climb in only three seasons. But he wouldn’t do it for free, for he wanted the Sun,the moon, and the Hand of the Goddess Freya in marriage. Then the trickster Loki, god of the trickery he had an idea. They would give him so little time to build the wall that he wouldn’t be able to finish it. And they would simply just finish the rest on their own!It was a genius plan. So they all agreed it to it. The deadline was one season. And so the Mason got to work. The first day the gods all expected him to take bring all the stones one at a time but it was they didn’t realize was his horse was practically the best one in the entire world tree. The Mason stacked up at least enough stones to finish all the mortal walls the world midgard would need, and the horse would just simply carry it at the speed of the wind!By the end of the season, the wall was almost done. The gods realized that they would not be able to stick to the plan that Loki had given them so they told Loki to find a solution to this problem because without the sun and moon the worlds would never be lit up again. Loki created the most beautiful mare in the worlds. Then the mason’s horse saw it and ran into the forest with it.By that point the mason realized that his horse was gone so he went to the gods furious and told them that if you is that they would not return his horse he would slay them all and then they asked how he would do that exactly and then he just responded by revealing his true self. The Mason was not an actual mason after all, it was a stone Giant! However,Thor just returned from killing Giants and when he saw this stone giant threatening the gods.So he just killed him. Loki eventually found the mason’s horse’s kid. It had eight legs and could run faster than the wind. Odin took it as his horse. And so the story ends.
