Hi friends! Today I’m writing about Chak De, an Indian movie.

It’s about a hockey player who was the star of his country, until in a world cup final, he missed a penalty shot and everyone thought he was a traitor and had sold out the game. So he went into hiding for 7 years due to humiliation. He only came back to coach the girls hockey team for India. The girls team was always losing because the council kept on making them fail. Slowly everything got better on the new coach’s team. However, he had one player named Bindiya who caused a lot of trouble, and ended up making the other players on the team signing a petition.The petition stated that they wanted a new coach. So he left. But then the team fell apart and the coach came back. Soon, the council wanted the team to stop training. Then they made a deal with the coach: if they could win a round of hockey against the national mens’ team, they could go to the World Cup. Sadly, they lost. But the boys team felt bad because they had cheated. So they persuaded the council to let the girls’ team go to the World Cup.The team went to the world cup for the first time.They first faced the home team: the Australians. They lost badly but then they got a win streak and faced Australia in the finale. The game was tied, so they had a tie breaker which India won! Girls became stars, and the coach regained his honour. Personally,I think that the plot is made good, but the players characters were very differed.That makes it hard to believe that they would ever work together. But it ends up working out with a wacky plot twist at the end. It also shows that humans can unite to face a common enemy. This can sort of be put into our world right now. In the movie, the team unites against Australia. In real life, we are uniting (poorly) against Covid and climate change. It goes to show that when humans work together, they can accomplish WAY more.
