The author wrote this book to entertain the reader about an old lady trying to save the village with a house full of animals.

In the book, there’s an old lady who lives with a household of magical creatures. But one of the creatures tells her that it will rain for 1000 days and nights. Here we can easily see that the author wants to entertain the reader with an adventure.They also want to entertain the reader by giving the animals funny traits, like the Bridle London Spotted cat, who was always trying to catch the Magical mouse. 

The author could have been more informative by adding more detail about her life.
