Book review: Dogman series

The Dogman Fetch 22 is the eighth book in the Dogman series. Lots of people have different opinions about this book but I’m going to use my opinion to write this blog post, obviously because it’s my blog, why else would I use my opinion for this review?

The author Dav Pilkey made two protagonists by the names of George and Harold.

At the beginning of each book we see two introductions. In the first one, George and Harold explain what the book is based on and what grade they are in, because it usually changes a bit. Then they explain what happened in the previous Dogman book.

The authors of the story are created by Dav Pilkey. These teenagers have an amazing class, but their teacher forces them to read classic literature. Almost all of their books are based on classic literature, for example Brawl of the Wild is based on Call of the Wild, A Tale of Two kittens is based on A Tale of Two Cities. You can guess what is going on here right now.

This book is based on the real-life experiences of George and Harold, with courage, bravery, anger, betrayal, lies, truth and fairness. Fairness has a huge factor here.

The series is all comics and George and Harold, who are the fake authors, if you didn’t read the other parts of the blog post, made all of the Dogman books in comic form. The name of the company that they made up, a company that publish these books is Treehouse Comic Inc. They also make up a bunch of other characters and publish comics featuring them.

In Dogman Fetch 22, there is a drug called Supa Brain Dots. When you eat it, your brain becomes enhanced for a week. Inside of it, there is a chemical called GR-2. In high doses it causes Supa anger. Flippy, the bionic fish had been affected by this and that’s why the cops put him in fish jail. In Fetch 22, lil’ Petey finds out about the effects of high doses of GR-2 and he clears Flippy’s name to set him free.

Another after-effect of high doses of GR-2 is that the person gets psychopathic brain powers, they can move things with their minds, they can fly, they can manipulate people, they can bend objects that can’t flex.

In the book, Dogman is sent out by Chief to collect all Supa Brain Dots in the city, so nobody ever would again experience the effects of high doses of GR-2. When Dog Man is done, he trips and drops the Dots into a swamp where 22 tadpoles were being born. They became the antagonists due to their super anger and psychopath powers, hence the name Fetch 22.

While all this was happening, a TV actor named the Fair Fairy and her hand puppet dog that can speak got fired from her job and she found the tadpoles in the swamp. The tadpoles thought she was their mom and she took advantage of that and ordered them to turn the tree beside her to life. She then starts to destroy the city but fortunately this attracts the attention of the Supa Buddies. With the addition of Flippy, who the mayor had freed from the fish jail a few hours ago, they charged the Fair Fairy and her tadpoles and tree. I am not going to say anymore but there are a lot of spoilers in here. So please go ahead and read the book and in the comments section, say how you feel about it. This book symbolizes courage, bravery and a lot of other emotions. I recommend this to young readers or even to some teenagers if they like comic books. They most likely do. So please read this series. That’s all for this blog post. Good bye!
